Anyone who has done the Canton Fair knows the routine. Metro to Pazhou, ten hours walking halls or standing at a booth, dinner with a supplier, back to the hotel late. In spring or autumn Guangzhou is still warm and humid, and a shirt that looked fine at 8am does not look fine by 4pm.
Most visitors pack for three or four days and the fair runs longer than that. That’s where we come in.
When the fair runs
The China Import and Export Fair is held twice a year at the Pazhou complex in Haizhu District, once in spring (April to May) and once in autumn (October to early November). Each session is split into three phases covering different product groups. Hotels around Pazhou, Zhujiang New Town and Tianhe fill up, and hotel laundry gets busy and expensive.
A routine that works
- On your first evening, book a pickup online or by scanning our WeChat QR. Tell us your hotel and room number.
- Leave your bag at reception before you head to the fair in the morning.
- We clean and press everything and bring it back to the front desk.
- Repeat every couple of days. Many regular fair visitors book us for the whole session.
Normal clothes come back the next day. If you need them sooner, same-day return is available for a 50% rush fee when you book early in the day. Shirts are ¥30 each, pickup and delivery starts from ¥68 depending on distance, and the minimum order is ¥150, which a few days of shirts and trousers will easily reach.
What to send
- Shirts and polos. The obvious one. Send them all at once and we’ll return them pressed on hangers.
- Suit jackets and trousers. Booth lighting is unforgiving on creases.
- Everything else. Underwear, socks and gym clothes can go by the kilo in our wash, dry and fold service.
Beat the humidity
Guangzhou’s humidity means clothes washed in a hotel sink rarely dry overnight, and they can start to smell. Everything we return is fully dried and packed, so it stays fresh in your suitcase on the flight home. We wrote more about this in our guide to keeping clothes fresh in humid weather.
